Several years after the Strawberry Fields Festival, Mosport would be used for two other large-scale rock festivals: Canada Jam (August 25, 1978) and the Heatwave Festival (August 23, 1980).

The latter was an extraordinary event, promoted by John Brower of Toronto Rock and Roll Revival and Strawberry Fields fame, featuring the first performance by the newly expanded nine-piece Talking Heads, who debuted their funk-imbued Remain in Light material. This was followed by a blistering set by Elvis Costello and the Attractions, who closed the festival with five energy-fuelled encores. Also entertaining the audience of 45,000 that day were Rockpile, the Pretenders, and the B-52’s. The Clash had been originally scheduled, but did not show up. The event lost a reported one million dollars.
